StarAwards Recognition Program

StarAwards allows our top performers to earn Starpoints® from the Starwood Preferred Guest® program. Starpoints may be redeemed for amazing things like Free Night Awards with no blackout dates, room upgrades, Award Flights on more than 350 major airlines, merchandise awards and more. What will you do with your Starpoints?


What is the StarAwards program?

StarAwards is designed to reward individual performance and behavior. Revolutionary in the vacation ownership industry, the new StarAwards program allows our top producers the ability to earn the very same currency (Starpoints from the Starwood Preferred Guest program) they sell. It’s a great way for Associates to familiarize themselves with Starwood properties along with the many benefits of SPG® — and no other vacation ownership company offers anything like it.


The two components of the program consist of the following:

1. Wall of Fame Starpoints Awards

Annual lump sum Starpoints awards are granted to the participating teams’ top performing Sales & Marketing Associates as listed on the Wall of Fame in the Five Star category.

2. Vistana Starpoints Awards

Stars will be awarded for individual behavior and performance that aligns with our Vistana Vision & Values — including Our Promises (Play as a Team, Do the Right Thing, Go the Extra Step) and Our Essentials (Win With Talent, Execute Brilliantly, Build Great Brands, Deliver Global Growth, Drive Outstanding Results).

  • Vistana Starpoints Awards shall be used to track performance and behavioral activities when determining how to distribute the Starpoints other than for the Wall of Fame annual awards.
  • Demonstrated behaviors or performance accomplishments will be acknowledged by a corresponding number of “STARS” which will be used in determining the Starpoints that are distributed to Associates.
  • Vistana Starpoints Awards shall be awarded quarterly on an unvested basis.

Who Qualifies?

All current Vistana Sales Associates and Production Marketing Associates are eligible to participate and receive Starpoints.


When Do I Get My Starpoints?

Starpoints become vested four (4) times per year after a minimum of six (6) months has elapsed. For example, all Starpoints earned for October–December are vested and transferred into the respective SPG accounts in July of the following year.

Only those Associates employed at the time of scheduled vesting will have their unvested Starpoints vested. Associates on leave of absence will receive their Starpoints upon returning to work and on active status in Oracle PeopleSoft.


IT’S ALL UP TO YOU

Free nights, flights and upgrades aren’t the only options you have for redeeming your Starpoints. You can also redeem with a host of merchandise partners like Amazon and Nordstrom, transfer to airline miles, and even donate them to help make a difference through the American Red Cross and UNICEF. Starpoints Considerations

Taxation

Recipients of vested Starpoints will be responsible for the appropriate taxes as a form of compensation. Taxation forms will need to be completed, signed by both employee and department head. Starpoints will be deposited in the employees’ SPG accounts by the last day of the vesting month.

Expiration of Starpoints

Starpoints granted through the StarAwards program, which are placed into Associate SPG accounts, expire in six (6) years if unused. In the event you leave the company, you will be responsible for transferring any existing Starpoints into a new SPG account. All SPG Terms & Conditions apply. Transferability of Starpoints

Starpoints granted through the StarAwards program are intended for personal use by the Vistana Associate and his or her family only and are not to be used as any form of currency. No selling or bartering of Starpoints between Vistana Associates is permitted for any reason.

In the ordinary course of business, program and benefit plans continue to evolve as Company needs and laws change. To the extent it becomes necessary and desirable to change any of the plans in which eligible employees participate, such changes will apply to all eligible employees.
